2021. A Summer Filled with Celebration!

Summer. As France begins it's summer holidays, we thought we would give you a quick snapshot of what festivities will look like for us here in southern France. The celebrations here will be different than those in other parts of the world, but I am quite sure that after having gone through a global pandemic the entire world will be desiring to kick back and relax in their own way. In the south of France, in the Occitanie region, this is what you will find:

The wrap-up for the Tour de France 2021

Weekly Bandido games will take place between the white Camargue horses and the infamous taureaux. One can watch or even choose to participate in a variety of games found in almost every village.

Pétanque games are played in the local boulodromes or just about anywhere dirt can be found.

Local town fêtes in our area can involve Flamenco dancing and mariachi bands.

Here you will find a southern spin on the Medieval Joust. A joust done on the water, rather than on a horse, brings a new twist to a centuries old tradition!

All these festivities, like countries around the world, will be centered around the local delicacies … which in the south of France are fresh oysters, mussels, paella, and the highly sought after local wines that were, in fact, found in the wine cellar of the US President, Thomas Jefferson.

Summer. It looks different all around the world. But the summer of 2021 has the potential to be one filled with great global celebration. Here in the Occitanie region of France, people are ready to come out from under the implemented curfews and restrictions and celebrate life in the ways their fathers before them did ... with an intense joie de vivre! And we have so much to be thankful for…
